Message from the President to the UNBC Student Newspaper ‘Inaugural Edition October 1994 Congratulations to the Editor and Staff of the UNBC student newspaper, ‘Over The Edge’, on your inaugural edition. As the first student group to enjoy UNBC’s initial year of full operations and the newly-opened Prince George campus, historically, you will be regarded as_ pioneers. Because of this, everyone will take great interest in your experience here and how you perform as university students. This university’s style and reputation will be affected by the choices you make and the standards you set -- both academically and in your social relationships with each other. Ina very real sense, you have an opportunity to make a difference to student life at UNBC. When I think back on my own student years, I have fond memories of those experiences and what they came to mean to me later on. I wish for each of you the same sense of enjoyment and great personal satisfaction as you work towards accomplishing your career goals. This message is also an opportunity to communicate my sincere wish to be informed about your education and involvement at UNBC. While it is nice to be told about what we are doing right, I am also interested to know students’ opinions and ideas about what might be changed or made better. I expect to hear from you. At the end of your studies, I hope you. will be able to say you were intellectually challenged, inspired, and stimulated. Then, you will know that it has all been worthwhile. With my best wishes, Geoffrey R. Weller President UNBC The NBC of Northern British Columbia
