Why not bake a loaf instead? They're just as goad and take only a fraction of the time. Good, too, to freeze and have on hand for unexpected guests. Here are two that are especially good : Carrot Loaf Cream together: 2c sugar (white) 4, eggs lc oil (any veg. oil) Then add: 2c grated carrot Sift together: 3 ¢ flour + tsp soda 3 tsp baking powder Add to the creamed mixtwre. Put in 4 tsp rum or almond.flavoring. Turn into two loaf pans and bake at 350 deg. for about an hour. Make a topping of: 2 Tbsp melted butter or mrg,. + © brown sugar i c chopped nuts Spread this on the loaf while hot and return to the turned off oven for about 20 minutes. Lemon loaf Crean together: 3 c shortening l c white sugar 2 eggs Rind of one lemon, grated Sift together: 13 c bread flour 1 tsp baking powder zz tsp salt Add to creamed mixture alternately with: 4c milk Mix in about ic of nuts, then bake at 350 deg. in a loaf pan for about and hour. Topping: % ¢ white sugar juice of 1 lemon Spoon this over hot loaf while still in pan. Turn out on rack when cool.
