This issue, we meant to ask a hard-hitting, polit- » thought, and cause heated discussions. Really, we did mean to. Unfortunately, thinking about. such a question was a bit beyond us at »me brains exploding. That happens to us sometimes. So, we had to come up with a question using three : this week's shocking report on what actual students actually think. Oh, yeah, and this week’s question: _ a fish, who would you whack, and what kind of fish would you use? _ Travis, 4th English Pike, cause they have sharp teeth, and George Bush. In light of the intensifying trepidations among my fellow students of the University of Northern British Columbia I have decided to con- tribute my breadth of knowledge to our aptly named school paper Over The Edge. Ahhh, what great intentions I have. Thank you. Now, what do I intend to do? Well, with my general understanding and experience of everything I intend to answer your every question to the best of my abilities. Which means I will answer them as I see fit and however I choose. So don’t expect to get an answer that will change your life. Just be happy that you get an answer at all. Now wait just a moment - I don’t want you to think I will give you ghastly answers and absent-minded responses. That is not my inten- tion, but rather my intention is to enlighten you and if I am lucky give you a new sense of, well, nothing. How is that possible? Let’s just leave that for you to ponder. Anyway, I am, in all simplicity, just another individual who is offering his understanding of the thing we like to call life, or something of that sort, in the form of answers to your questions. After all, we are all looking for answers to questions that give rise to new questions and so on and so forth. Are we not? So what makes me so special? Well, if I were to answer that... I think you know the rest. So let’s just say I know all, hear all, and see all. I believe it is now time to terminate this comprehensive synopsis of me and why I am the person to answer your questions and what bet- ter way then to end with some words of wisdom. Now listen carefully. Take note if necessary. I will only say this once for now. So here it is. Look, that is all. Think about it. PS., 1 forgot to add this. How do you go about getting your questions to me? Well, just send me an e-mail at the following: askwho@notme.com EARTHLINGS! PrideUNBC is pleased to extend our official welcome to all new and returning students, as well as the larger community as a whole. PrideUNBC started its kick off by way of launching our ‘Celebrate Diversity’ campaign across campus on September 17th 2003. Drop-ins will start on Monday September the 22nd at 5:30 - 7:30pm in the First Nations Centre. For those of you who are new, or managed to miss us last year, here is the low-down. PrideUNBC is dedicated to two causes here on campus: First off, we recognize the need for representation of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Two-Spirited and otherwise (un)defined (LGBTTU) communi- ty here on campus. We hope to promote acceptance and open- mindedness by way of bringing the LGBTTU community out of the margins and showing the larger community that we are an integrated part of the world around you. We are your friends, your brothers, your sisters, your co-workers, your peers, your pro- fessors, and your fellow students. We are everyday people who you pass in the halls of this great insti- tution of ours on a daily basis. Secondly, we are dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable atmosphere to the LGBTTU com- munity, their supporters and their affiliates. This is done by way of offering a weekly drop-in that anyone of an open mind can par- * ticipate in. These drop-ins are designed to allow the LGBTTU community to come together, meet other people of like experi- ence, receive support, and simply find a place in which you are fully able to just be yourself. We offer a wide variety of literature covering topics ranging from ‘coming out’ to safe-sex. PrideUNBC is also connected to other resources throughout the community, and is thereby able to assist just about anyone in receiving any addition- al information they-are interested in, or referring them to other places of support. PrideUNBC will be offering several special events throughout the year ranging from our pizza and movies nights at our drop- ins, to various fund raisers and campaign drives. You may have already noticed some of our ‘Celebrate Diversity’ posters around campus. Our hope is that at a later point in the school year we will host a Diversity Dance fundraiser for which tickets will be sold and all people can come and be proud of whoever they are. The inter-workings for the dance are still in progress and more information will be avail- able as it surfaces. PrideUNBC is also putting forth a challenge to all other clubs and service centers here on cam- pus to join us in our Diversity campaign. Celebrate whatever it is that makes you a part of our highly diverse body here at UNBC. If you are interested in joining the campaign, please con- tact us by way of e-mailing us. PrideUNBC has the good for- tune of having the very generous people of the First Nations Centre to offer their space to us for our drop-ins and other activities. We are happy to offer this space to the LGBITU community as part of our mandate to offer a comfort- able and safe atmosphere. We will meet in the First Nations Centre every Monday from 5:30 - 7:30pm for our regular drop-ins. The first drop-in will run Monday, September the 22nd of 2003. We sincerely hope that we will see all of our old friends from last year, as well as many new faces over the coming school year. The more people that come to our drop-ins and our events, the more fun we have.
