Const. “B” DIVISION is known as the Boundary Division and is situated in the southern part of the Province. It covers 27,317 square miles and comprises all that territory along the 49th parallel from Coquihalla on the Kettle Valley Railway Line to the slopes of the Rocky Mountains, taking in the coal mines of Similkameen at Coalmont, Blake- burn and Princeton in the west, to the coal mines in the Crow’s Nest Pass at Michel, Natal and Fernie. Between these western and eastern boun- daries is a large expanse of land some 250 miles, as the crow flies, in which are situ- ated many lakes, rivers, mountains and valleys with numerous towns, villages and hamlets—an area which is fast growing and SERGEANT DAVID HALCROW N.C.O. in Charge of the Boundary Police District, with District Headquarters at Penticton “DAVE,” as he is commonly known, was born in the Shetland Islands, Scotland, in 1886. Joined the Edinburgh City Police force in 1908; came to Canada in 1911 and joined the Winnipeg City Police; was Chief of Police at Transcona, Mani- toba, for a term until war broke out; enlisted with the 8th Battalion in September, 1914; re turned in 1917. Joined the Cranbrook City Police in March, 1921, as Chief of Police, which posi- tion he held until 1931, when the policing was taken over by the B. C. Provincial Police. On being absorbed on the strength of the B. C. Police he was first stationed at Canal Flats in 1931, and late in the same year was transferred to Nelson. In 1933 was appointed Acting Cor- poral, and in 1935 confirmed in that rank. In 1936 he was transferred to Penticton with the rank of Sergeant. which may one day be unrivalled for its richness in resources. The division is policed by Inspector John Macdonald and about 70 N.C.O’s. and ofh- cers scattered throughout four districts.
