Live music was provided by the ‘‘Ducharmes’- a group from Vancouver. BIG CHRISTMAS PARTY It looked like the children had a fun time. Santa’ good to everyone. Everyone liked the magician. We had some good laughs. MO2Z2>r>0 NDPSTAN DIO Ed Thirlwell was the grand M.C. for the evening. The banquet started with an opening grace by Fr. O. Pauwels.and then the M.C. gave a toast to the Queen. An excellent buffet was served and the Cookery Staff deserve a ‘‘special mention” for their superb efforts. After the dinner, Rev. W. SCENES FROM SCHOOL Morrison said the closing grace. CHRISTMAS CONCERT. As part of the official business, Bill Riddle, the ° New Fire Chief, thanked Kinky Borsato, retiring Fire Chief, for all his services as Fire Chief for the past 1] years. This brought a standing ovation for Kinky from everyone. Bill then recognized Reg Ash, who retired as Fireman from the Cassiar - Volunteer Fire Brigade after 13 years of service. Mr. Peter Jones presented Kinky with Jade book- ends as a token of appreciation. s Before the dancing began, Mr. Peter Jones _pre- sented the Raybestos Manhattan Award to Vivian Cousins for all her contributions for the better- ment of community life in Cassiar. Special thanks go to those people who turned out to decorate and set up the hall, to the friendly people behind the bar, to the Cookery staff and ‘last but not least to Cassiar Asbestos Corporation Ltd., whose generous donation contributed to- wards making the Annual Fireman’s Ball possible.
