Charlotte Prevost, Violet Clifford, Olive Munro; Bracksirp Patror: Alice Sepass, Margaret Brown, Ruby Hovell, Mary Underwood, Eliza Humchitt, Eva Dick; Cotour Party: Delavina Allard, Edna Tait, Alice Percival. Eight of these are new members enrolled in February by the Commissioner, Miss Raley. Meetings have been held every Monday throughout the year, and the girls have worked faithfully to prepare themselves for their second class tests. The Guides were very much pleased at being asked to serve at the Banquet given by the Scouts for King Scout Robert Gray on his return from the Jamboree. The Scouts also gave the Guides a pleasant evening on January 6th—a surprise party. The Guides returned the compliment on the evening of June 9th, on which occasion Commissioner Miss Raley, who is retiring on account of her approaching marriage, was also honoured. The Easter camp at Cultus Lake was greatly enjoyed by all who participated. On the first evening there Mr. Winson, naturalist and author, gave the girls an instructive talk on the flowers and plants to be gathered in the locality, which made their subsequent hiking trips more interesting to them. The Guides were proud indeed at being complimented on their smart appearance by Lady Willingdon when she inspected them on April 9th at the School. The Divisional Girl Guide Rally on June 7th, at Coqualeetza, was an outstanding occasion. Com- panies arrived from Chilliwack, Sardis, Rosedale and Agassiz. After inspection by the Divisional Com- missioner, Mrs. Claude Wilson, came Company Competitions in Running, Guidecraft, Country Dancing and Scene-Acting. Coqualeetza won second place, with a total of forty-five points, five first prizes, one second and five third. The year closed with the Scout, Guide, Brownie and Cub Field Day on June 14th, and the Scout and Guide Service on the 15th. Brownies Report 6) BROWN OWL ETHELWYNNE MacKAY Our Good Fairy Pinky Winky is still with the Coqualeetza Brownies, the only I.O.D.E. Native Brownie Pack in the world. She has found us a new Tawny Owl, Miss Aimee MacKay, to replace Miss Dorothy Clark, who, we are sorry to say, did not come back to us this year. She also found us our first Pack Leader, Edna Tait, whom we have to thank for her intense Brownie interest. This year has been one full of fun, frolic and activity. Marjorie Wilson, Rita Brown, Katie Moon, Laura Lewis, Edna Quacksistala, Josephine Williams, Evelyn Williams, Emma Bolton, Edith Williams, Jean Walker, have become Second Class Brownies, and have received their Service Buttons for their one year Brownie membership. Hazel Boss, Dorothy Charles, Lily Leo, Sybil Modiste, Clara Reid, Agnes Modiste, Irene Williams, and Wilma Matheson, our new recruits for this year, were invested as real Brownies by Miss Clarke, Guide Captain. Wilma had been our Mascot since last year, being still pretty little to be a regular Brownie, but when Lady Willingdon inspected the Pack she decided that Wilma ought to really belong, so she graciously instructed that she be invested and receive her uniform. Wilma was honoured—and overjoyed. Pinky Winky was so sorry to find Mary White, Dorothy Barton, Dorothy Price, Jane Hunt, Elsie Gladstone, too big for the Brownie Pack, so District Commissioner Miss Raley asked for their discharge until they are old enough to become Guides. We miss them as Brownies. We also miss Lucinda Wesley, Marion Swanson, and Angeline Cooper, and hope to see them back at Coqualeetza next year. Divisional Brownie Frolic Day was May 31st. At 11 o'clock sixty-five Brownies gathered at Coqualeetza from Chilliwack, Agassiz, Rosedale, Fairview and Sardis, to make merry. The Coqualeetza Brownies received a prize for their most original Corner . They also came first in the Knot-tying Contest. Their Demonstration Game was ‘Princess Tiptoe.” Jean Walker was the Princess and her guards were Rita Brown, Edna Quacksistala, Laura Lewis, and Emma Bolton. The prison bars were Katie Moon, Marjorie Wilson, Agnes Modiste, and Dorothy Charles. Divisional Commissioner, Mrs. Wilson, and Dis- trict Commissioners Mrs. Bidell and Miss Raley were present. At 12 and again at 4 o’clock the Brownies enjoyed feasts of sandwiches, cookies, ice cream, lemonade and cakes—white cakes, pink cakes, brown cakes! Oh, what a feasting! During the year nine new skipping ropes and nine new balls were presented to the Pack. Yes, the Brownies have had a lovely year. Page eighteen
