Fashionistas and lovers of all things sartorial wait with bated breath for summer to draw its last breath and the leaves to trickle to the ground. Fall Fashion. It is the season that we all wait for. Cool enough to layer all your favourite items but not yet cold enough to cover up entirely. This season’s biggest trends seem have taken a nod from the past. Taking influences from the very feminine fifties and all the best parts of the 1970s. The most noticeable thing about this season’s trends is that they are not very trendy. Instead, designers have chosen to go down a more classic route while producing pieces with a more timeless quality. Reading some of the internet’s top fashion blogs leaves one asking the inevitable question: is that new or vintage? One thing is for sure thought, this is the best season to save up for that investment piece you have had your eye on because it is sure to be with you for the next few decades. Carried over from S/S 10, this trend can ground any look and provide that something extra. If you are wearing a super short mini it adds to the look and makes the whole ensemble more demure. Moreover, the socks do _ add functionality to an outfit providing that little bit of extra warmth needed for the ever shrinking autumn days. Probably inspired by AMC’s hit show Mad Men, this season is all about the hic housewife. However, just because you look vintage doesn’t mean your attitude has to be.
