“wm BRIDAL SHOWER “t% On June 16th, a surprise wedding shower was held at the Nurses’ Res- idence in honour of Miss Elizabeth Troughton. About 25 ladies gathered to wish Elizabeth every happiness. After opening her many lovely and useful gifts, which arrived in the beaut- ifully disguised toy trolley (thanks) to Laurel Hazelwood) Elizabeth thanked everyone and invited them to visit her later when she was settled in her new home. A welcome punch was served dur- ing the evening and an enjoyable lunch followed. Savard in honor of Sonja Drzimo- tta. Sonja plans to wed this summer. Sonja thanked all her friends for the many lovely and useful gifts which she received. Games were played and the “lucky’ winners, Miss Pat Storie and Miss Denise Borsato claimed their prize by serving a lunch and refreshments. Caron made the presen- tation of a silver tray to the couple on behalf of their many friends. Joyce also received a lovely jade and gold Pendant. Ray and Joyce will settle for the time being in the Vancouver area where Ray hopes to have some work done on his back and get rid of the cane he has carried for some time. Laurel, who is from New South Wales, Austra- lia is on her second visit to Canada. Her mother, Mrs. Nita Hazlewood has been visiting in Cassiar for several months but has now returned to Australia. Another belated welcome is to Mrs. Muriel Yorke, who commenced here in February. Muriel and her husband Robert and two chiidren came to Cassiar about a year ago from Powell River, B.C. Page 2
