22 Girl Guides at Camp Wild North The first Cassiar Girl Guide Company held a camp at Chain Lakes from July 9th to July 15th, 1973. Ten Girl Guides from Fort St. John, Fort Nelson and Taylor, B.C. as well as 14 local guides spent a wonderful week earning their Jr. Camper badge. Camp personnel was —- Guider-in-Charge, Laura Akey, Waterfront Director, Donna Flanagan, First Aid on a rotation basis were Muriel Yorke, Lil Kamlah, Pat Flanagan and Sandy Crawford. Assisting in camp full time was Mrs. Joanne Hansma. On a rotating basis were, Mrs. W. Plumb, Mrs. P. Hisch, Mrs. L. Jones, Mrs. F, Kliment, Miss K, Flanagan. * ss a ae ma ao eee Visitors day at the camp - everyone joins the Camp Fire. ~ Many thanks to all the above people and also to those who assisted in transporting material and supplies and assisted in setting and striking camp, To Cassiar Asbestos Corp. Ltd. for our loan of fire fighting equipment and the use of tents and Mr. Wm. Dobie for his safety lecture, A special thanks to the Lions Club for building and erecting powder rooms, setting up tents and transporting and setting up our wonderful stove! Without the assistance of the Lions Club, our camp would not have been possible, At camp the weather was most co-operative giving a variety of wind, rain and sun. The programme included nature hikes, handicraft and making camp gadgets. The Patrol challenges - sawing wood, water relays and water boiling was won by Patrol 1, The best sweeper - sponsored by Sanitary Patrol was won by Sharon Plumb who was cheered on by her patrol The cleanest tent, and best gadgets went to Patrol 3. As this was a test camp, Const. George Humphrey, representing Camp Adviser, P. Westhouser made an inspection on Thursday. Special Visitor's Day on Thursday brought out many parents - some who got lost but turned up at evening mug-up, were most wel- come and the girls proudly displayed their handiwork to all.
