PREPARATION 19 Time went on, with the aspiring missionary’s work being divided between the study of theology and other cares. Being now alone and free to absorb knowledge as fast as his intellect would allow, with no extra time to be spent on others by the professor, he reached the end of the scholastic curriculum one year ahead of time. He had been some time in deacon’s Orders; and he was now told to prepare for the coming of a much greater day, when, on the second of July, 1882, he was promoted to the priesthood with a sixteen months’ dispensation. He was now Father Morice, and was soon to become a full-fledged missionary.
