Over The Edge Page 14 fun and Games March 26, 2001 TI ied Trigun is another new series from Pioneer, and its taking everyone by storm. The basic plot is very simple, there is a famous outlaw, Vash the Stampede who has a 60,000,000,000 dollar bounty on his head in a futuristic wild west gun- ‘STILL STARQING: iTULS WIELO THING ‘CLACK CLack CLACK CLACK CLAC HEWO/ } os CLACK clLAcK CLACK WE NEED fi SLACK 6 A Moe! _ mood of the series ; VEERILY | very well. Vash isn’t known for his cold-hearted killing, he’s known for having a trail of destruction follow him wherever he goes, I AM GREETINGS! NAKED! ia CLACK i a hence he has caused many headaches for the insurance agencies that happen to deal in any town he passes through. As the story goes on we see this isn’t really .the fault of Vash, who is actually rather kind hearted, gentle and AS AM [LET im THE US WINS CoPULATE pDoTH Notch my BUTT So ie UN w% meee? incompetent, but the rival gangs of bounty hunters and other out- laws that are trying to kill him to get the 60,000,000,000 bounty on his head. The good thing about Trigun is that it stops short of simply being a campy comedy about an idiot out- OK! law. Vash’s myste- rious past is allud- ‘ed to in little bits that peak your interest and keep you wanting to watch for more info. The first thing that struck me about this series was the absence of a J- pop soundtrack, instead the music .is sludgy guitar riffs that suit the is the fact that the characters are far ' from stereotypical. Vash, while _ expected to be the typical cold and , calculating outlaw type, is actually the biggest gump ae gee, zl in the history of See ee ap Siti stantly doing incredibly stupid things, chasing women so he can grovel at their feet and annoy- ing everyone else. There are a lot of little jokes in Trigun, and the humor is right on the mark, so watch for the black cat! Trigun is a full 26 episode series, so while there is a good plot that keeps you interested, it moves slowly enough that you don’t have to watch every episode to Know what's going on, making the series devel- opment a little like that of Cowboy bebop’s, where there is a good mix of fun episodes and plot development. The ani- mation isn’t top quality, but it is very well done, with a nice blend of com- puter animation in some parts, that integrates well with the traditional animation. To sum up Trigun, it’s totally hilari- ous, has _ interesting characters and while the plot is slow moving in the beginning, it is still interesting to keep your interest. Trigun gets 4 and 1/2 stars out of 5.
