Whitesail Lake Map-Area Weighted average of talus is 0.35% WO3 over an average width of 172.6 feet for a slope distance of 1590 feet. No. of tons of talus per vertical foot = 21,000 tons. Estimated minimum tonnage of talus averaging 0.35% WO3 = 21,100 tons. LEGEND Assays: %“ WO; Boundary of tungsten bearing talus Figure 5. Plan and assays of the scheelite-bearing talus, Deer Horn mine, B.C. (From plans of the Deer Horn Mines, Ltd.) Although scheelite is present in all the rocks it occurs most commonly in quartz stringers where they are plentiful. In diorite the scheelite is in small grains whereas in volcanic rocks it may occur as crystals up to 14 inches long. Little development work has been done so that the full extent and mode of occurrence is not known. The main showing lies under a large talus deposit along the boundary between the Harrison No. 1 and No. 2 claims. In 1952 Deer Horn Mines Limited, under the direction of Jack Ross, outlined the scheelite-bearing area of this talus and systematically sampled it (see Figure 5). An open-cut had been made at one point where bedrock outcropped within the area of talus. This trench is 130 feet long and both ends are in scheelite-bearing talus. The known area of scheelite-bearing talus has a slope length of 1,590 feet and an average width of 172.6 feet. For each 1-foot average depth this area 102
