June 26th, the band played a halfhour concert at Chain Lakes, pictures of which‘’ are in the Centennial edition. Due to construction of the new school gym, our next practice was the middle of October and we are more than pleased to have twice the amount of room for marching. Remembrance Day, Nov. 11th the band played hymns at the Church ceremony held in the Community Centre, then play- ed marches and cadences up to the Cenataph, a trumpeter played the ''Last Post!’ and "The Rouse", The band par- aded back to the Centre playing marches all the way. Dec. 20th, the band played Carols and popular Christmas muste for the school concert. The band members would to thank the U.S.W.A. for their-donation towards the purchase of band uniforms like and Dr. and Mrs. Navin for their donation towards the purchase of music. In preparation for the Rendezvous, practices were held twice a week, with extra lessons for individuals who needed it. The members left for Whitehorse on Feb. 25th, in Rattray's large bus. The band took in most of the Rendezvous events, list- ened to the Naden Band, saw the ice sculptures, McBride Museum and even color T.V. On Sunday afternoon we were the only band in the parade and it was 12 below zero and not one member fell ‘out of ranks during the ent- ire length of the parade. Sunday night the band played concert at the F.H. Collins auditorium and were filmed by the Canadian National Film Board, local T.V. and part of our program was broadcast over CBC radio. . On Monday morning, we left Whitehorse for the return trip with the certificate which can be seen in the en-~ closed notice board in the Community Centre. , Aeknowledgements: td. transp- Cassiar Asbestos Corp. | for towards ortation costs. donation Bill Rattray for his reason- able rates and for the ex- cellent and safe performance of driving. Yellow Cabs and driver Richard Douglas for the use of their bus to pick up band members at the end of the parade and take them back to Norqetown. Terry Keefe for the ex- ensive use of the aym. S&J Transportation for lunch on the return trip. Whitehorse branch of the Royal Canadian Leqion for the use of their flag slings for parade, And last but not least, Mrs. Eleanor McCallum for her organizing efforts which helped make this event for the band possible.
