CASSIAR, B.C. July 1968 On Friday, June 7th, the wind-up of the Cub and Scout activities for the season was held near the old trailer court. A monster bonfire and wiener roast was held at which about thirty Cubs and Scouts and twenty Dads were treated to hot dogs and marshmallows by the Cassiar Lions Club. For a while the Dads tried to match the boys hot dog for hot dog but in’the end it was clear it was no contest as the young lads devoured the goodies in grand style. At the ceremony prizes were given to Red 6 and Brown 6 of the Cubs and to the Springbok Patrol of the Scouts for overall proficiency during the year. Scout Master, Gerry Lane, and Cub Leaders, Hans Veltmeyer and Pat Flanagan, kept the boys in hand and a good time was had by all. In August several of our local Scouts will be attending a big Jamboree to be held in Yellow- knife, N.W.T., at which about eight hundred Scouts from all over Canada and from as far away as Alaska and Greenland will gather for a weeks scouting activity. » Some of the activities at the wind-up wiener roast are shown in the pictures on the next page.
