p rs Fi se overtheedge 21 Feb, 1996 Ss Well, it’s been a boring little while in music. The last few weeks at the Urban have been open stages, so there’s not a whole hell of a lot to ‘write about there. And since I’m too young to get into bars (and I don’t drink anyway) I don’t know what’s happen- ing in the bar scene for mu- sic. And since I can’t write about what happened in the last while, I’m going to have to write about-what’s going to be happening. On February 25th, at the Urban will be the Gandharvas (yes, the one Jago’s son is in), Normality Enchallenged, and twominutehate. As you might guess, this isn’t ex- actly a kill-your-neighbor total mosh gig, but it should be cool. Tickets-are $6 for members, $8 for non, avail- able at the door and at Stu- dio 2880. Doors open at 7 P.M. Urban Standard Time. For those wanting a kill-your-neighbor-while- _trashing-the-venue show, then March 1st at the Civic §J Centre is where you want to be. The lineup will include Facepuller, the Real McKenzies, Total Deth (not a typo), F.B.I (see how many interesting things that this could be an acronym for), and Clockwork Medusa (yes, they’re being allowed back on stage). Tix are $10, $8 if you’re a member, pur- Muzak chasable at the door, Studio 4 2880, and Leisure Services. Doors at 6:30 pm UST. Finally, the last one that I know of ahead of time, ™ is going to be rusty, the Si- 9 rens, and one other band that is yet to be decided upon. They are going to be at the © Urban, with ticket prices yet unknown to me, and doors probably going to be at 7pm UST. That’s pretty much all I know about that one. All of the above are being put on by the North- ern Society of Musicians and Artists (NSMA), which is what the member prices come from (i.e. if you’re an ce ™ -jes burkitt We can't play but we've got stage presence, ¢ 7 3 ‘io (Ss ea : stage presence is everyt ing" Spunk Played in the agora alcove until security shut them down (Feb 8, 1996) From Left to Right: Buddy Skabowlie (Bass), Dr Rythm Buy Beat Machine Dean (aka Dial, drums), and Peter Pocketlint (guitar, vox). And if anyone is wondering what UST is, basically Urban Standard Time is that the doors open around that time, usually a little before, and the Mike Callewart Guitar/Vocals for Nudge Playing it up at the Internet Cafe on Valentines Day -- Photo T. Gula. Are you going south for Reading Break? Got a ride down and no way home? I'm looking for someone to drive a vehicle up from Vancouver to Prince George on the weekend of March 1 to 4. I'll pay for the gas. Give me a call in Vancouver at 293-0075. photo. by Jes Burkitt show starts as soon as the sound guys, the band, and the audience are more or less ready. Until next ish.
