Exposé on Sean Lennon
What to do when your parents have already done it

Sean Lennon is the offspring of the famous couple, John
Lennon and Yoko Ono. But instead of cowering in his parent's
shadow, Sean Lennon is working on his.own artistic merits.
Inevitable comparisons to his famous parents aside, the thirty
five year old is making a name for himself in both the music
and fashion industries. He may not be topping the charts,
and is not likely to be found on Ryan Seacrest’s American
Top 40, but Sean Lennon is fast becoming one of the most
iconic hipsters around.

This is mainly due to the triple threat of his avant-garde
artistic approach to music production, his equally unique
approach to style and fashion, and the influence of his model
girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhi. Kemp Muhl has been the
face for Maybelline and has modelled for labels like Tommy
Hilfiger and D&G. This odd couple has intrigued the eye of
fashion magazines and photographers alike, rendering them
a title as the ‘it’ couple.

Sean and Charlotte have appeared in Nylon magazine,
posed in an ad campaign for a French high street chain,
Zadig and Voltaire, and featured in the French magazine
Jalouse in a risqué feature entitled ‘All You Need is Love’.
However, since the two have become a favourite for imitating
iconic shots of John and Yoko, fashion photographer Alex
Freund decided to photograph the couple in their own right.
The project turned into a 50 page “coffee-table” fashion book
entitled SEAN+KEMP.

Not only are the couple making waves in the fashion world, but
seemingly abandoning his solo work, Sean has collaborated
with Charlotte musically. Fitting into the comfortable niche of
the folky-pop duo, Sean and Charlotte rudimentarily formed
their band in 2008. Their musical endeavour is known as the
GOASTT, or formally The Ghost of a Sabre Toothed Tiger.
The band has produced an album and has performed at
notable festivals such as SXSW in Austen. The two have also
formed the record company “Chimera Music”, and produce
most of their music in Sean’s basement studio at his house
in Greenwich Village.

Their music is, needless to say, eccentric, but non-the-less
a refreshing variation for those willing to listen. With Sean
Lennon’s focus on artistic merit rather than commercialism, ONLINE SOURCE

the online collaborative production company hitrecord.org
founded by the actor Joseph Gordon Levitt. The music video
for the song was created and produced by the contributions
and collaborations of the websites members, and was
showcased at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

To satisfy the little hipster inside us all, there is the creative
output of Sean Lennon. Whether it is a three minute song
entitled “Rainbows in Gasoline” or a nice bowler hat and a
pair of thick framed glasses, Lennon has got it covered. To
further examine the under-appreciated talents of the children
of iconic musical legends, popular suggestions include
musicians Jakob Dylan and Damian Marley.
