ORCHIDS TO POLICE GUARD FROM DUNCAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE * High in their praise of the appearance of the squad of B.C. Provincial Police officers who attended the Indian Sweater Ceremony at Duncan, was the Duncan Chamber of Commerce. Writing to Commis- sioner T. W. S. Parsons on behalf of the Chamber, Secretary Allan Hall said: “IT have been asked to express to you this Chamber’s sincere appreciation for furnishing a guard of honour of the B.C. Police force under the command of Inspec- tor R. Owens on Sunday last, on the occa- sion of the presentation to Mr. Harry Truman, President of the United States of America, of a Cowichan Indian sweater by the Cowichan Band of the Salishan tribe, which was received on his behalf by Mr. Troy L. Perkins, American Consul at Victoria. “It has been said, and we agree, that it would not have been possible to select a finer guard from any other police force in this Dominion. Their physique and general bearing merits great praise indeed. “I would add that we in Duncan consider ourselves fortunate in having the city policed by your force, especially so with Corporal J. Henry in charge. He is at all times most co-operative with us, and he and his men are highly respected by all law abiding citizens.” “Say It with Flowers” Brown’s Victoria Nurseries Ltd, Leading Florists and Seedsmen FLOWERS FOR EVERY OCCASION 618 View Street VICTORIA, B. c, Phones G 6612 and G 3521 We Telegraph Flowers to Any Part of the | World Where Possible | Bonded Members F.
