CASSIAR, B.C. April 1967 CASSIAR CENTENNIAL ARENA ASSOCIATION PROGRESS REPORT Returns from the sale of tickets on the car raffle are now coming in. Response is promising with sales going well from Whitehorse to Edmonton. Mr. Beguin reports that sales of tickets are going quite well in Toronto. Local sales have passed the 150 mark with more expected. If you have not yet bought your ticket, they are available from members of the hockey team, the executive of the Arena Association, and other supporters. A dance will be held on May 22 in the Community Centre at which the winning tickets will be drawn. Cassiar Asbestos Corporation has generously donated all the scrap available on the property. Proceeds from the sale of this scrap will be divided between the swimming pool and arena projects. Help this scrap collection along by placing any brass, bronze, or copper in the drums provided on the job for this purpose. In addition to the scrap drive, a beer bottle collection has been started. All residents of the community are asked to put their beer bottles outside their houses or bunkhouses every Saturday morning and if possible in their original containers - or phone Larry Kartio at local 221. Kilborn Engineering of Toronto are donating their services to provide truss and building designs. Orders for materials will be placed as soon as building plans are finalized. The Company will assist in the erection of the arena by making equipment available and many offers of volunteer labour have been received. The arena will be located just north of the present skating rink building. The present rink will be used to house the Lions Club swimming pool. Dressing rooms in the arena will be common to both projects. at
