Some of us have lived here for many years and have in our own way appreciated Cassiar for what it was, but it was through the eyes and "lens" of others that we were shown many things that we didn't know or often take for granted, The SERN? was advertised as a "trial run" for the gentlemen of the community who were to present papers to the annual convention of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, (CIMM) held at the Van- couver Bayshore Inn, April 24, 25, 26 and 27. After prefatory remarks from Mr. Peter Steen, and an intro- duction of the guest speakers, Mr. Brian Pewsey presented the film en- titled "Cassiar--My Town", The film, which gave an overview of the village of Cassiar, was then followed by Papers given by Mr. G. Hewitt, Mr. G. Leathtey, Mr. P. Jones, Mr. D. Cook and Mr. M. Taylor on specific mining topics} these papers accompanied by slides and commentaries.
