Page 4 Dec. 1987 Cassiar Courier Our Drama Club has been very busy this fall with a number of activities. Our first performance, entitled “When Life Was a Radio Show’, involved the majority of our members, and was presented during the intermission at the Fashion Show November 14th. A special thanks to Lorraine Langteigne for writing the scene and to Ellen Erikson for her behind-the-scenes work. Our casting is now complete for the Wizard of Oz musical which will be performed in late April. Our leads are as follows: Dorothy Kerrie Desjardins Scarecrow Katherine Lanteigne Tin Woodsman Kelly Huber Lion Tim Owens Wicked Witch Norma Ray Kind Witch Lorraine Lanteigne Wizard Dean Bowden The Ptarmigan Players would like to extend our thanks to Ted Beck, Carol Kasper, and Karen Taplin for giving their time and talents for the important job of casting for these roles. Watch out for information on exact times and dates for the Wizard of Oz! We are once again involved with the Children’s Christmas Party, and have chosen this year’s theme as “Christmas in the Enchanted Forest”. The children will experience the magic and joy of Christmas among a number of Fairy Tale characters including Cinderella, School Advisory Council fhe November 5th meeting of the School Adviso- ry was held at Cassiar Secondary in the Home-Ec room. Seven members of the council and both principals and their representatives were present. The Hospital Board will put in a public request for a Public Health Nurse in our area and the School Advisory Council was asked to submit a letter expressing our con- cerns. Marlene Shipley was appointed Vice-Chairperson of the Council. Mrs. Julie MacRae, Principal of Snowridge informed the School Advisory Council that she and her staff have requested that no preschool children attend the Christmas Concert evening performance. If possible, they may attend the dress rehearsal earlier that day. We are interested in hearing your opinion on this situation, so please contact either the school or any member of the School Advisory Council and let them know how you feel. The Advisory wishes the Cassiar Secondary School volleyball team all the best when they travel to Whitehorse for the Invitational Tournament to be held there December 3 - 5, 1987. The School Advisory Council exists not only to hear the negative side, we also encourage the positive things that go on in our schools. When was the last time, you as a parent, told a teacher or any staff member how much you appreciated the positive things that he or she does for your child? By working together, we can make our schools a better place for our children. Our next meeting is December 9th at Cassiar Secondary in the Home-Ec room, starting at 7:30 p.m. Our Chairperson is Ross Harper and he welcomes your WRITERS CORNER . . . And1I Am Alone Today my friend, I buried my soul. I covered it with heartache and pain. No matter how hard I try, My sorrow still remains. . . . And I am alone. There’s no spark in my life. My eternal spirit is dying. The light went out in my soul. I’m sitting all alone In a crowded room of memories, With markings on the wall That once lit my soul. How can | survive, In a world that no longer thrives. When | woke up from my day dreams, | found, Everything Iloved, . . . died.
