To open, thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out the survey that we printed last issue, the response has been tremendous and it is good ‘to find out that many of our old readers have returned to _ flipping through the pages of Over The Edge. | would like to take the time this week to outline a little bit about what we thought of some of your responses. Firstly, many people expressed an interest in the improved quality of the paper. This was nice to hear, in that we don’t often receive such comments or input. We have changed the look of the paper several times in our short three year history, (four is you count the REALLY old issues we found in the library stacks), and we haven't always been sure how you saw, (pun intended), the publication. Diversity? Okay, agreed, some of our issues don't seem to have a whole lot of diversity, but that’s where you can help us. We have a relatively small staff here at Over The Edge, and some weeks we get swamped, some weeks we don’t. That's not us complaining, because | know for a fact that many of us would rather be swamped with story ideas rather than high and ary. If you want to see more diversity and know of an event that would help us do so, at the very least, e-mail us, (Address list later), we'd be happy to get someone Over The Edge Salutes The Following: All the new people who have taken the time to compliment us on the rapid acceleration of the paper's quality. Some of your responses stated that you were too shy to come in and talk to us. That's okay, we DON'T bite. Promise. lf all you want to do is contribute freelance, thai's fine too. We don't expect people to be exacily like us, we don't expect everyone to get in line and hold the same opinion on everything. In fact, we have Business students, Computer Science students, Chemistry students and, of course, English students. There's’ always a difference of opinions in the office. lf you're not comfortable with meeting here at the office the first time, phone or e-mail me. | would be happy to arrange a meeting at the cafe or in the library to discuss how we have been operating as well as to hear some feedback. | only look weird, I’m an okay guy, promise. In response to the overwhelming number of questions regarding the position of Over The Edge with the Canadian University Press (CUP), we are a member. In November of 1996, we found the money to pay our membership fees and join. This has contributed to the improvement of the paper significantly over the past few issues.
