Sometimes fashion seems like the most inaccessible thing.
Prince George has very little in the way of the sartorial,
and it doesn’t seem like it will change any time soon. For
some, the only way to stay connected to the newest trends
and styles is to shell out upwards of $10 on magazines like
Vogue, Elle, and InStyle. But even these magazines don’t
completely bridge the gap between the fashion world and the
average person with many editorials featuring clothing and
accessories that can cost more than a semester’s tuition.

How then is an average student supposed to stay connected
to the ever changing world that is the fashion industry without
having to subsist on craft dinner and saltines?

The internet. Yes, the internet does have an answer for every
problem in existence. The internet , and blogging, provide
a platform for the average person to connect to the fashion
world ina way which is unparalleled. Fashion blogs are written
by average people, many of whom are university students
across North America. These blogs are written by average
people, with average budgets. What makes these bloggers
special is that they have the ability to pair low cost pieces
with higher end garments and vintage finds. Some of these
bloggers are so popular that they have gained sponsorship
from some top line clothing outlets and invitations to New
York Fashion Week.

Style is Style is a cute little blog run by a
darling girl named Lydia. Lydia is a university
student who lives in Vancouver. What makes

Lydia’s blog so unique is that most of her

clothes are second hand. She manages to
hit the season’s hottest trends using clothes

that are several years old. With over 400

from stores like Modcloth and even won a
trip to New York Fashion Week.
