8 ee ae Se © Hn ov wax _& ” shea ‘ POVWIN COMMITTEE MEE LING A meeting of the Town Com- mittee was held on Jan. 13th. and was well attended by the various representatives, In order to improve the appearance of the townsite, the Surface Dept. crew have been informed why the cans are to be placed as far as possible off the road and it would be helpful if ‘house- holders would clean an area for the barrels and also an access to the barrels. The Committee is pleased to advise that arrangements have been made with S & J Transportation to transport incoming employees to the respective bunkhouse areas. This system was started in early December and is working quite satisfactorily. Traffic becomes a problem to all arowina communities - and ours is no exception. Hw The Committee decided to re- : quest the RCMP to restrict parking at the Lounae to the north side only, from Creery Street to Kennedy Street on decided to request traffic control on Connell Drive during lunch hour. The matter of a veterin- arian coming to Cassiar was looked into and it was rep- orted that Mr. R.F. Wood of Fort St. John was inter- ested, providing there was Sottictent work for him here, Plans are now underway. Projects for the coming year were discussed before the meeting adjourned. FROM THE COMMUNITY CENTRE The Centre has had quite a busy schedule since the last report. The annual Cassiar Comm- unity Club General Meetina was held December 18th, where a new executive was elected: President....\!. Zemenchik Vice-President..R. Leiaqh Appointed....S. Tarasuk H. Crawford The Snowmobile and Teen ~ Clubs have used our faci- lities for their socials, as well as the Curling Club and the ''Snake Pit!! durina their annual bonspiel, which was a hive of activ- ity. There was no lack of entertainment during Feb-~ ruary with the curlina banquet and dance on the 5th, the Benefit Dance on the 12th and the Valentines Dance on the 19th, all at the Community Centre. The ladies are enjoying their badminton leaque on Tuesday afternoons and if there are anymore enthus- iasts out there, just let me know at the Community Centre and you should be able to qet a qam. If there are enough extras, we could start another leaque. There is an open time period Thursday eveninas from 7:00 PM = 9:00 PM for any mixed badminton ptay~ ers. _ owners will be notified. A mens volleyball leaque was set up for Tuesday, 8:00 PM = 11:00 PM and Thursday 9:00 PM - 11:00°PM but if the boys do not show up, the league cannot run. The time is still available for volleyball.
