OF 58 mm DIAMETER. SHOPS AND NORTH SERVICE TOWER _ THE STEEL WORK ON THE TOP OF THE BUILDING IS DE- SIGNED TO HOLD THE TRAM CARS, AND IS EQUIPPED WITH WINCHES FOR CHANG- ING HAULAGE ROPES. THE TRAMLINE IS 4,685 METRES LONG, TRAVELS AT A SPEED OF 183 METRES PER MINUTE, AND DELIVERS 300 TONS OF ORE PER HOUR FROM THE MINE TO THE MILL. MAINTENANCE A CREW, NORMALLY’ OF SEVEN MEN, LOOK AFTER THE MAINTENANCE OF THE TRAM— LINE. GREASING IS DONE ON A REGULAR BASIS, ROPE SLIPPING AND TENSIONING IS DONE IN THE SPRING AND FALL TO CHANGE THE WEAR POINTS. ON THE ROPES AND TO ALLOW FOR THE CHANGES IN SEASONAL TEMPERATURES.
