ba on Cx QI oy ae AY Ha WAGE WO lar F Cid The Bayshore Inn was the setting on March 26th for a reception hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Berry for the pur- pose of presenting Long Ser~ vice pins and rings to pre- sent and Past Employees of the Company who reside in the Vancouver area. Two present employees at the Asbestos Wharf operation, J.T. (Jimmy) Ward and K. B. (Ken) Scrimger were presented with their 20 year pins. Both of them started with the Company in 1952 at the Cass- iar Mine. Seven past employees of the Company were also pres- ented with Long Service pins or rings by our General Man- ager. Mr. R.R. (Dick) Stevens received his pin for 15 years service. lr. George Brewer and his wife Pat each received acknowledgment of 10 years service as did Hessrs. W.L. (Bill) Johnson, C.E. (Charlie) Bronson and ~ Heinz Beyer, all of whom worked at the Cassiar Mine and \Vhitehorse, "It was reqretted that sev- eral past employees were un- able to attend the reception to receive their pins or rings. They were Mr. Nick Gritzuk, who was employed at Whitehorse then at Toronto, Mr. Rene Pasiaud and Mr. and Mrs. Reg Hewitt, who worked at Cassiar,. Among the guests present were Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Bronson, Mr. and Mrs. Heinz Beyer, Mr. and Mrs. George Brewer, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Vard, Mr. Gordon Edwards, Nr. Dick Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. John Ferris, Mr. Cam Church, Mr. and Mrs. Lyall Arnold, Mr. Alex Powell, CUE Mmcres = Mr. Bill Johnson, Nr. Mike Phillips and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Scrimger. A letter was received from the RCMP regarding the in- quiry from the Town Committ- ee pertaining to No Parking signs. The RCMP state be- cause Cassiar is a company owned town, the appropriate department Sal thro the com- pany may post the siqns. When this is done, the police will enforce the rul- ings. A motion was carried for posting temporary signs on Malozemoff Avenue from Creery to Kennedy Streets; also a siqn to be posted at the rear of the lounqe en- forcing No Parking in that area, Nn the subject of a veter- inarian, a questionaire is ) to be sent to the townsite esidents regarding a quar- antee of $500's worth of business for the veterin- arian upon his visit to Cassiar. A report on rabies, written by Dr. R.G. Schulze was read and discussed at this time. Mr. Christian was approac- hed by the committee reaqard- ‘ing the plans for a new re- tail store. His reply being if all goes well, the store would be built this summer, if not, by next sprina. A definite location has not been settled but a logical site according to levelling, grading, sewage and parking, was suggested by Mr. Christ- ian. This would be on the same side as the C.C.C., across from the new Post Office site. The new store would contain approximately twice the floor area of the present food sales area. The subject of a morque has been approved and the construction of the building will begin this year. The location of such will be de-— cided at the Town Committee's next meeting.
