Sense Field
Tonight and Forever

| get a sense that Sense Field have not yet absorbed their influences. The
first three tracks sound like some sort of stab at sounding like Coldplay or
Travis, only a little grittier. From there, the album strikes out in a North
American Manic Street Preachers meets Weezer aesthetic. Some heavy gui-
tar rock with some digital aspects tend to riddle the album, and the language
is very colloquial in nature. They might be a bit melodramatic in that they
lead the listener on a sonic journey instead of challenging the listener, or
helping the listener to think differertly. If you’re looking for a good sounding
pop band that wishes it was Brit pop, look up Sense Field. They’re just not
my cup of tea.

Hardcore Slipknot fans call themselves maggots. I’m a maggot now that I’ve
listened to this. lowa is the closest thing to pure death metal that the main-
stream will ever accept. Why? It’s not only heavy as hell, but it’s amazingly
fun to listen to as well, the songs get you by the throat and drag you along
for the ride, even if you’re kicking and screaming. The lead singer Corey
manages to pull off something that is well beyond most death metal vocalists,
he can sing in key. He can alternate from a growl that can only be described
as animal pain to a pure beautiful clean voice that’s so tormented sometimes
you just want to cry for him. The rest of the band are far too talented for their
own good, and it shows, as lowa isn’t just heavy, it’s smart as well.
