Hi-lites were: 1, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gay were named Mr, and Mrs. Schmoo Daze for 1980. Not too many events passed with- out them or their family entering and winning. 2. Cassiar Figure Skating Club’s “Circus Daze’’ on open- ing night showed off our local talent with splendour, under the supervision of Susan MacDonald — our Figure Skating Pro, 3. The Outhouse Races, and the enormous number of entries this year, Once again.the people’s talent showed with everything from Ms. Piggy and her troup to the Kitty Litter and the Lionesses: There were nine entries in all. 4. “Black Velvet’’ and the impact they made on the Mardi Gras Dance and several dances during carnival. 5. .“’The Market Place” showed how people could turn the gymnasium into a big city bargain centre with everything from jade to sliced pineapple. 6, The Ski Hill Extravaganza and B.B.Q. brought people out for the evening and in so doing, made people aware of the Arts and Crafts Centre and its exhibits, along with our newest event — Death Race 2000. 7. Earth Ball, Snow Shoe Baseball, and various outdoor events got “‘local yokels’’ participating and jockeying for the winner ribbons, 8. Children’s and Adults’ Nites in the Arena proved to be busy and competitive. 9. The Midnite Show Night, Pancake breakfasts, eating and racing were well attended. 10.. Happenings One can tell that Spring has arrived as we close the Ski Hill Operations - Arena - and various other facilities for the season, Farewell to Carl Lefebvre, who has left the recreation of- fice for points South, Carl will be missed by the Office and Community for his outstanding personality, and his versatile endeavours. Carl originally came to Cassiar as the Swimming Pool Manager, and worked from there to the Arena for one season as Manager, and closed out his em- ployment as the Recreation Co-ordinator with the Cent, We wish him well in his new ventures, JOHN WONG John is-the new Recreation Coordinator in the Recreation office. John hails from Vancouver and is a graduate of U.B.C. in Physical Educa- tion and has worked various clubs in Vancouver as Staff coach, Program Assistant, Activity worker , Recreation aide.
