This group ua toa twenty-two Crown-granted claims and fractions on the north shore of Pinchi Leke. During the field season cf 1937 cinnabar wns a ee by J. G. Gray of the Geological Survey on what has since proved to be the main showing on the Mercury group of claims. In May 1988, three claims, Mercury Nos. 1 to 3, were staked by A. J. Ostrem and Geo. Nislson, and ten claims, Dugout Nos, 1-3 ana Chief Nos. l and 2, wore staked bir’ D, and M. Roddacker. Later in 1958 these thirteen claims were optioned by the Consolidated Mining and Smel]ting Company, who have since staked nine additional claims, Pinchi Nos. 1-9. In duue 1940 a reduction plant with a rated capacity of 50 tons a day was prought- into operation.
