New Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship Weekly Gatherings By TYLER CLARKE SPORTS AND CLUBS EDITOR Interested in the life of Jesus Christ, or religion in general? The Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship at UNBC can help quench your thirst for knowledge with thcir [already begun] weekly gathcrings on Sunday and Wednesday nights, which are both open to all current UNBC students. Troy Lee, the campus minis- ter at UNBC, says that the goals of these Sunday Night gathcrings “is to provide students with an opportunity to learn more about Jesus and grow in their faith journey.” The Wednesday mectings began January 12th, and will also continue weekly until the end of the scmester. These meetings last from 6:30-9pm, and will be held in the Keyoh resi- dence’s common room. The Sunday meetings began January 9th of this semester, and will continue every Sunday until the end of the semester. They last from 7-10 pm, and take place at Lce’s place at 1177 Francois Crescent. A pick-up from residence/town will be provided. Perhaps the selling point to may non-believers, or those who gencrally don’t meet to talk about religion, is the fact that free meals are provided at these mectings. Lee encourages that “sharing a meal in such an atmosphere is a bless- ing from God and foreshadows God’s purposes for all of creation. It’s also lots of fun. It’s an opportunity for stu- dents to share a meal together in an inclusive, honest, affirming, and Christ centered atmosphere.” Such religious events arc not new to UNBG, as the IVCF has been on cam- pus for approximately. 10 years, always with the core purpose of lead- ing students, faculty, and staff to become committed followers of Jesus. In the past they have served the uni- versity through things such as the Hallowcen food drive, free meals for students in residence, special lecturcs fran noted academics, retreats, among other insightful religious expe- riences, which have always becn open to those interested. For those of you ‘unsure of the whereabouts of the Lee’s place, at 1177 Francois Crescent, they have provided detailed directions from 15th. “Follow Tabor until Davic, turn right on Davic, then right on Jarvis, then take the 2nd Icft on Francois Crescent.” Another upcoming cvent is a potluck dinner, which they hold two of each semester. These dinncrs usually consist of a Christian faculty person giving a short talk about their univer- sity experience, which is followed by questions, answers, and cating. The date for this dinner is to be announced. For more information on any of these upcoming cvents, please contact Troy Lee at 614-4450 (homce/ office) or 565-1031 (UNBC, cell), or at troy- suclec@shaw.ca. You can also get more information from the kind peo- ple at the IVCF booth in main hall of UNBG, or from the equally kind pco- ple at the UNBC Chapel.
