Camptire permits no longer issued Regulations ehiaindas Open Campfires Persons may set out, start, or kindle, a fire for the purpose of ecokiite: preparing food, or obtaining warmth, providing the following conditions are obsérved. 1) Fires must not be set out, started, or kindled, in any area where the Forest Service, owner, or tenant, has posted notices prohib- iting fires. 2) Fires must not be located within 10 feet of any log, stump, snag, or standing trees. 3) Fires must not be located within 50 feet | of slash or inflammable debris, or structures. 4) A suitable shovel or pail, or equivalent container of a capacity not less than two gallons filled with water, must be kept avai- lable at the fire at all times. 5) All ‘inflammable material must be removed down to mineral soil for a space of at least ‘three feet in every direction from the edge of the fire. 6) Material to be burned shall be in hand built piles no larger than four feet in dia- meter and three feet in height. 7) All fires must be attended at all times and be completely extinguished before leaving the fire. 8) Fires are prohibited when strong winds are blowing. 9) This regulation does not apply within any national park. 10) This regulation does not apply to stoves using gasoline, propane, or briquets, or to approved permanent enclosed campsite fire- places. 11) Garbage must either be disposed of in the nearest approved garbage container, or other- wise burned, or buried to a depth of at least twelve (12) inches. 12) Any forest officer may prohibit the sett- ing out of any fire or order any person to extinguish any fire, and fire restrictions may be imposed from time to time by publica- tion of notices in the local newspapers or by radio announcement. 13) Every person who contravenes any of the provisions of this regulation is guilty of an offence and is liable to a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00).
