O ver The Edge Page 2 NEWS December 7, 1998 Prince George promotes “Operation Red Nose” By Jay Brunn BC Lions kicker, Lui Passaglia, was on campus, November 25, to help Prince George kick off their first ever participation in “Operation Red Nose.” Prince George added itself to the list of 93 cities across Canada who participate in the program each year. The purpose behind Operation Red Nose is to provide an alterna- tive to drinking and dri- ving. If someone does not feel fit to drive, whether tired or from drinking, Operation Red Nose offers a con- fidential way for both the individual and their vehicle to get home safely. Lui Passaglia empha- sized how important a program such as Operation Red Nose is, injured in alcohol relat- ed accidents. The program was conceptualized on December 13, 1994 in Quebec City. Initially, Operation Red Nose provided 463 rides. It has since grown to over 90 cities, escort- ing over 110,000 indi- viduals and their rides home. Operation Red Nose will take place on December 10-12, 17- -19, 24, 26 and 31. If you need a ride call 564-6673 or 564- NOSE.
