12 ICCER SO Rad idowm Gn August 18th, the Cassiar Soccer team left for a tournament hosted by the Whitehorse Soccer team. Four other teams participated -Whitehorse, Elsa, Clinton Creek, and Inuvik. There are ten men on each team and the game was scheduled for two 4S minute periods. Saturday, at 2:00 p.m., Cassiar played Whitehorse. At half time the score was 3 to | for Whitehorse. ODur- ing the first period Drago scored a goal for Cassiar ‘and one penalty shot was ‘missed. Itt was difficult ‘for Cassiar to get a chance to score again. | However, during the second period Kaufmann scored two goals for Cassiar, and Drago made the winning goal. Joe Mezes was noted for the excellent ‘job in middle field. Moose, who was goal keeper, saved many situations. Drago and Kaufmann played a really good game. This winning game qualified our fellows for another one on Sunday. «+ Sunday, found Cassiar vs. Elsa in a semi-final game. Elsa made a goal at the beginning of the game and won 1 - 0. Cassiar woked for a come back but without ; -success., It was a close game and the Cassiar team maintain ed a strong defense. Drago starred again and shot the post-close but not close enough. Good competition, nice weather, and a party at the Hot Springs hosted by the Whitehorse team completed a very good weckend for the Cassiar Soccer team.
