CASSIAR, B.C. December 1968 The new Equipment Garage of Cassiar Asbestos Corporation’s Transport Division in Whitehorse was officially opened at 3 P.M. Saturday, November 9th, by Commissioner Smith, _ followed by a few words from Mayor Wybrew and a prayer and blessing from Bishop Frame. Refreshments were served to the adults and children with balloons, blowouts, etc. for the latter. The Elk’s Hall was taken over for the evening, having been decorated by the women from the office and crew from the Warehouse — P.E. 10. Cocktails were served, followed by a buffet supper and dance. At the end of the dinner guests were introduced and Mr. Andre Beguin gave a very fine address outlining our various mines. The garage was built by Humphrey Construction Co. and associate sub-trades, during the past summer, necessitating the maintenance work of the garage being carriedon under difficult circumstances. One of the highlights of the afternoon was when the Commissioner cut the ribbon and the garage doors swung open and one of our vehicles drove in, gaily decorated with the flags.
