PHOTOGRAPHIC DRIVERS’ LICENCES rs Drivers! licences in British Columbia have a new look-as of July 4th. All ences that date will include a coloured photograph of the holder. This change has been introduced primarily to make identification easier and to assist the enforcement agen- cies in making sure that the licence is being used by the “person entitled to use it. The new format is recognition of the fact that a driver's licence has become almost a ‘universal form of identifica- tion. The licence will be useful as a positive means of identification in connection with driving, but for other purposes as well. The new Piceneee the size of a credit card, will con- tain standard personal infor- mation and the photograph. Photographs will. be taken at local motor licence offices at the time of application. An interim licence. will be issued at that time for use during the processing period. The fee of $5.00 for 5 years still applies. Persons now fotatha a: driver's licence are not required to change to the new format before the renewal date shown on their current licence, although they may. Obtain a duplicate licence in the new format if they wish. Cost of a duplicate licence is $2.00. Persons wishing to take advantage of obtaining a duplicate licence lic: issued or renewed after. person is entitled to a duplicate licence and will © also provide some essential data for including on the photo licence.
