Many people from within our university community including the Health Centre staff, your Health Council members, various staff and students, and the Communications department have made significant contributions in developing this logo over the past two months. The various components of the logo depict the focus and purpose of the Health Centre activities. The open hand demonstrates the openness of the Health Centre in offering assistance .to students. The apple is a traditional symbol of health and wellness. It is hoped that everyone in the university community will read the newsletter and give feedback on its usefulness and value as a continuing publication. The newsletter will be called “THE WELLNESS TIMES”. A second teleconference is being brought to the UNBC community by Occupational Health & Safety and the Health Centre on April 24, 1996 from Oklahoma State University. Once again, Dr. Rich Keeling from University of Wisconsin’s Health Services is the featured speaker. The teleconference will be brought “live” from the Student’s Union building. Unfortunately, this event falls during our exam period . but if any student is able to attend please contact Robin at the Health Centre for details. There is no cost for students and lunch will be provided. REGULAR HEALTH C EN T RE ACTIVITIES A reminder that there are nurse clinics open to UNBC students on Monday and Tuesday mornings between attnchpdeade nonjeat Tkabin Thursday and_ Friday afternoons between 1:00pm and 4:00pm. No appointments are necessary to see the nurse. If you are unable to see the nurse for an individual appointment during these times, please contact the Health Centre to make an appointment. Health Centre services are free to all UNBC students. For students considering the opportunity to become an active community volunteer, the Health Centre is an on- site “connection” with the Prince George Volunteer Network (CVN). Volunteer opportunities are posted on the bulletin board across from the Learning Skills Centre. Well, I promised a pie filling for this issue. Here itis. Apple Blueberry Pie. Preheat oven at 375F. 4/5 apples 1 cup blueberries 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/2 tsp lemon juice (if you have it!) , | cup sugar (brown or white or half and half) Cut apples in bite size pieces and add to frozen blueberries. Stir in all other ingredients. If you don’t feel there is znough, just add more of everything—easy as pie! Put in your never fail pie crust and cover it and in the oven it goes! It will be cooked when the top is brown! Half an hour or so! Keep an eye on it! Enjoy! This goes great with Vanilla Ice Cream!!
