PROSPECTING CLASSES A very successful Prospecting Class was completed on February 13th with a lecture on Mineral Economics by Mr. A. C. Beguin and a review by Mr. W. N. Plumb. Approxi- mately 55 Cassiarites attended lectures which have been in progress since November 8th,1969. Thanks are extended to the Cassiar Community Club, the Curling Club and Father McAllister, for the use of their facilities, and also to all those who assisted in the presentation of the course. W. N. Plumb He ee HH NORTHERN LIFE SOCIETY will be the name of a new group which will incorporate as the result of a general meeting held on February 13th. This meeting, called by the Adult Education Committee, ratified a con- stitution and by-laws which will be registered under the Societies Act, and plans were made to continue the public information type of talks held last fall as the ‘‘Northern Life Series’’. Membership to the Society will be open to all residents in the Cassiar area. Members of the Society will arrange a series of programs to be held this spring and will meet for the purpose of discussing matters of general interest. Among the objects of this Society is the intention to “‘promote, organize, conduct and manage lectures, talks, films, discussions and studies of interest to residents of the Cassiar area. Elected to serve on the first Board of the Northern Life Society are: Rev. Fr. J. McAllister, President; Mr. Jerry Lees, Vice- President; Mrs. Kris Nordin, Secretary- Treasurer; Rev. E. Foster, Mrs. Jetty Veltmeyer, Mrs. Anne Stewart and Miss Anna Gunst are Directors. Mr. Jack Thornicroft has been appointed Company Representative. +e # #8 HH The Brownies, Guides and Rangers of Cassiar will be selling Easter Baskets again this year. Watch for posters. He ee HH Help Support the Lions Club and the Young People of Cassiar! The Lions, with the help of the Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Brownies and Guides will be collect- ing empty beer bottles every Saturday morn- ing. Please place your empties near your garbage can so they can be easily picked up. Proceeds will be used to finance the youth clubs of Cassiar. Your co-operation will be appreciated.
