One other important point is that not all the
particulate emission is asbestos. The major fugitive
emissions at the minesite are thought to be mainly rock
dusts. No analysis results of asbestos vs. non asbestos
amounts are known at the present time.

If we assume only 5% by weight of all emissions f rom
all sources are actually asbestos, then the annual estimates
appear to be in agreement with national asbestos emission
inventory data (Canada 1970 estimated 16293 tons from
mining and milling.) The other 95% is rock dusts & fuel
particulate, but mainly the former.
