Hockey cont'd... The first Bantdm tournament game found Cassiar vs. the Whitehorse Cougars. At the end of the second period, the score was 5-0 for Cassiar. In the 3rd period, Whitehorse bounced back and scored two goals, and Cas~- ° siar 3, for a total score of 8-2 for Cassiar. Scoring for our team - A. Tischler-2, J. Drzi -motta-3, H. Tischler-1, K. Pete-2. Only one penalty going to the Cougars. The next tiger-team to be challenged were the Whitehorse North Stars. It was a much rougher game with 3 penalties going to Cassi- ar, tripping, chesscheck and holding, and | to the North Stars for tripping. Scoring for Cassiar, J. Creyke-l, J. Drzimotta-2,. K. Pete-2, A. Tischler-1], R. Day-l. The North Star tried to strengthen their position by bringing in two midget players and there seemed to be a constant change of players, but it was all in vain. Final score 7-2. Next came the Whitehorse Kings and a shut- out game for P.J. Connolly and R. Zemenchik. End of Ist period 5-0, 2nd period, 8-0, and final score was 9-0. Only penalty went to Cassiar. This was the 5th tournament game. BANQUET kA Kk Ke Ke Four long tables filled the Centennial Room of the Arena on April 27th, leaving standing room only during the joint banquet for Minor League Hockey and the McDame Ski Club. . Awards to top skiers were presented by Frank Egyed, President, and Bill Giachino, Hill Chairman. Three penalties went to Cas- siar and two for Haines. A tough game indi- cating that the size of players were once again unevenly matched. It was a shutout game for Cassiar with two goals scored by R. Day and K. Flanagan. The Bantams played the tournament and needless to say won with their four game victory. However there was one more game scheduled aaainst the Whitehorse All Stars, an exhibition game. This time Whitehorse reigned victorious with a 9-4 victory. Two penalties were charged against Cassiar for tripping, and four against the All Stars, elbowing, high stick, charging, and tripping The Whitehorse team was a bantam-midget combination and the playing tough--it was a good tournament.
