This game — was showing the signs of another repeat win by the Timberwolves, yet at 14:55 the score was 52-50 for UNBC, and not three minutes later Capilano was leading 59-52. Unfortunately for UNBC, the Blues did not give up the lead for the rest of the half, with a final score of 91-81 for Capilano. Leading scorers for UNBC were Dana Larsen 25 pts., Brian McDonnell 18. pts., and Kent Bergstrom 16 pts. SPORTS Timberwolves vs Blues continued from Page 1... With the men’s team within reach of the playoffs, winning these next games is crucial. Thanks to Dawn Perry for singing our National Anthem so beautifully for all four weekend games. Thanks also to the Tri Omega “Men in White” for ‘entertaining’ the crowd Friday night and for showing up in their Hawaiian theme at Saturday’s games. Greywolves Curtail Wolfpack Domination By Trisha Stanley On February 6th. at 7:00pm, at least thirty hockey fans attempted to fill in the vast expanse of the Prince George Multiplex. They made the most of its size by yelling, stamped- ing around the arena, hurling insults across the ice and waving home- made signs and banners. “Mo Blows!” proclaimed one sign, while another retaliated with “Greywolves Can Drink the Wolfpack Under the Table!” “U2 Is From Ireland,,” announced a third, as though there was some doubt in this matter. | can only assume it was meant to be some clever tactic to confuse both hockey players and fans alike with its deep and profound meaning. On the ice, the UNBC Greywolves, coming off seven game winning streak, faced off against the UNBC Wolfpack. The Wolfpack was unbeat- en in three previous games against the Greywolves. With a line of strong forwards, the Wolfpack took early control of the game, starting the scoring only minutes into the first period with a goal by Phil Cox. The Wolfpack went on to dominate the first period, keeping the puck within Greywolf territory for the majority of the time. Towards the end of the first period and throughout the second, the Greywolves took command of the game, with goals by Kirby Jaques, Erik Kozijn, and Mozzine Husham, who nicely avenged himself against the infamous sign. The sudden < change in pace only incited the fans 6. Erik Kozijn 319.0 for both teams even more. At one point your intrepid reporter could no longer bear the constant barrage of really poor English and Scottish imi- tations emanating from the crowd and was forced to take a momentary respite outdoors. Upon returning moments later, | learned that | had missed the fight “highlight” of the evening, when Peter Robb of the Greywolves vented his frustrations by taking out one of the leading scorers for the Wolfpack. Despite a second goal by Cox, and a third goal by Darren Carpenter, the Greywolves went on to win the game 7 to 3. Jaques added two more goats for his second hat-trick of the season. Other goal scorers for the Greywolves were Ryan Stevenson, who also had two assists, and Trevor Joyce. Both goalies played tremendously strong games, particularly Tom Pearson for the Greywolves, who kept his team in the game during the first period. The turn-out for the game was a huge improvement from the last UNBC match. The multitude of the fans who took the free bus down from residence, or who wandered into the building by accident, provid- ed a lot of creative support for both teams. Next Wolfpack vs. Greywolves match: March 3, 9:30pm, KIN 1 My prediction: | will be there with an air horn. 8. Tim Lee 297. 0 9. Ritchie Lidder 331.0 10. Terry Robert 334.0 11. Melissa Schooley 322.0
