Sedlak and Stephen Rudianyn. The
pianist was Mrs. Hambidge, standard
bearers were Walter Hanley and Peter Vosa

On October 9th at Cassiar Elementary

The ceremony started at approximately
12.15 when the police constable declared
court open in the name of Her Majesty
the Queen.

The magistrate remarked on how bec
a Canadian citizen, che candidate no i

the right to vote in his home country,

But in becoming a Canadian citizen, he — |

CITIZENSHIP COURT (CONT*D

On Thursday, October 9, 1958, the
ceremony of Canadian Citizenship was
held in the school,

A member of court, the R.C.M.P. Prank
Tong, opened the ceremony, After the
magistrate, Mr. Wo. Corran, took his
position, we sang, "God Save the Queen",
Then Mr. Corran made a speech saying that
it is very hard for these two gentlemen,
Mr. Stefan Rudianyn and Mr. Jeroslav
Sedlek, to leave their mother country
and to decide to become Canadian citizens!

To become a Canadian Citizen, you >
must be five years in the country. You
also have to speak the English language
and know the British and @he Canadian
Anthems, After his speech the

Minister of Citizenship and Immigration,
who wished to congratulate the two
gontlenen., Mr. Sedlak and Mr. Rudianyn
then swore the oath of allegiance and
kissed the Bible,

Reverend D, Hambidge made a speech and i
said that these two men not only become
Canadian Citizens, but that they also
bring their skills and knowledge to
Canada, Then the court stood end sang
"O Canada",

The R.C.M.P, closed the court by
saying “I order this court to be closed,
