I have written about a little of everything: music, books, comedians, life, the Legion, movies, T.V. shows, Canadian art- ists. This has truly been a unique experience, Interviewing Brian Voll- mer last year was definitely one of the top as far as this position. It was my first big interview and in the 80's, Helix was pretty fam- ous. I still have Brian on my Facebook friend's list. I remember being nerv- ous as all bloody hell; after all, what am I supposed to ask someone whos met or played with most of the whos who in rock? Jour- nalism was not my area of expertise, either. Although I love to write, by trade, I am a social worker. I did it though, and with that, got over a lot of my fear of interviewing people. During our AGM last spring, I had someone come up to me to tell me that be- cause of my article on Stu- art McLean, the Canadian story teller, they had now Classifieds now available. OTE has had a fantastic semester and we thank all of you for the tremendous support we have been receiv- ing from the student body. The high fives and kudos have been huge become a fan. Last week, our Editor in Chief said something about going to the Legion. I'd like to think it was my wonderful article about the Legion in Smith- ers that led him there, or maybe it was his nose for lower drink prices, I am not sure, but I am hoping that a few of you went and checked out the Legion here. It feels good to know that there were people out there who read my articles and I appreciated hear- ing comments like the one above. As for the OE staff, they truly are a dedicated team that works well together. The meetings were always efficient and comical, most- ly due to the hilarious Mr. Bailey, or Madame Bailey, his alter ego, The rest of the staff was pretty hilari- ous, too, and we all pulled together to produce this fine newspaper you are currently reading. Haakon, our acting Prod guy, really saved our necks by step- ping up and taking the pos- ition when we needed him to, Stephanie's awesome at balancing the books and keeping the finances in line as the Managing Editor. And what would OtE be without the Sex and City column, written by Kali, the General Office Assist- ant? Then there's Shelby, who covers the news, and does a great job of it. As for Helen and Aria, the newest members of OtE, they're fitting into their new pos- itions of Photographer and Copy Editor perfectly, wish I had have been around long enough to get to December 9th, 2009 + Over the Edge for us this year and we look forward to continuing giving So that’s it for 2009, thanks again for reading and good luck with your finals. Hope- fully, they'll be at our staff Xmas party, As for me, I am off to do a practicum in my home- town, which as my loyal readers know, is Smithers. Who knows? Maybe I'll go night sledding again; those of you who read my article about it in January know that could mean broken limbs or other dangerous consequences. If you read my article on Susan Juby, who wrote Alice, I Think, and picked up her book, you know what life is like in Smithers. I am looking forward to it, I’ve been gone for six years and I think it’s time I go back and give to the community I called home for so many years. I hope that my arti- cles have amused some of you, informed you, and encouraged you to check out some things you wouldn't have checked out otherwise. I have enjoyed my year and a month here, and I hope that whoever takes this position over loves it as much as I did.
