Do not ever touch any wires hanging down the poles. Do not use any plugs in place of fuses. Do not disturb any buried cables. Do not obstruct approaches to electrical panels or switchgear. Do not use steel rules near live electrical equipment. Do not attempt extracting the bases of broken light bulbs from the sockets. Do not use metallic flashlights near live electrical equipment. Make doubly sure you are locking out the right switch when you are preparing to work on corresponding ma- chines. The opening and closing of 550 and 2300 volt switches and magnetic starters is to be performed by workmen ONLY upon instructions from qualified electricians. SPECIAL RULES Operations at Cassiar are conducted under the pro- visions of the Metalliferous Mines Regulations Act. To conform with the requirements of this Act the following Special Rules have been formulated. These special rules have the force of law under the above Act. 1. No person shall operate any equipment unless author- ized and instructed to do so by recognized authority. 2. When mobile equipment is left unattended, due care shall be taken to ensure that the equipment, or any part of it, cannot move of its own accord. 3. No person shall mount, or dismount from, moving equipment. 4. All machinery shall be so maintained that it may be operated in an approved manner with optimum safety to workmen. 5. All employees, except those employed in clerical, do- mestic, or laboratory capacities, shall wear approved protective footwear. 6. All equipment shall be operated with due care and at- tention, and at a speed consistent with existing con- ditions. 7. No person shall enter or work in the dry rock storage building unless wearing a protective hat of an approved type.
