CASSIAR TOWN COMMITTEE A Town Committee Meeting was held on July 15th. It was decided that the minutes of all the meetings would be made available to the peo- ple in town and c&n be obtained from the Townsite Administration office. It was decided at this meeting that recommendations be made to the Company to widen the lane at the rear of the Trailer Court on Maloz- emoff Avenue; provide better parking facilities at the Community Centre and Hockey Arena; that the old Post Office be converted to a Library when the new Post Office is built; and also ask if transportation can be provided for men to be taken to the Bunkhouses on arrival. It was also decided to write to the R.C.M.P. requesting that the 20 M.P.H. speed zone be extended to the R. & S. Chevron Service Station and that more signs be posted around town to this effect. It was suggested that a list of Town Facilities and hours of same should be available for any new arrivals in town. P.S. The list of town facilities mentioned above has been prepared and copies are available in the Post Office or at the Town Adminis- tration office. xk * & Ole Two-0-Two, Brydon's Bonnie Bus returned to Cassiar after a trip of about 2500 miles. They travelled the Alaska High- way to Whitehorse viewing the sights along the way and then journeyed to Clinton Creek. They visited many of the famous Klondike regions and took in the Dawson City Gaslight Follies. | They returned via the same route and after a few mechanical problems returned to Cassiar and Betty applied for a job as H.D. mechanic in our Equipment Garage. zk *& & TELESAT Things appear to be moving right along on "Telesat"'. The site chosen is beyond the Sewage Plant or up. that road to the south and just east of the frame bunkhouses. We call it Sewage Plant Road. I can assure you there is no connection between the name of the road and some of the CBC programs. Development work, foundations and other service will, we expect, start in September 1971 with com- plete operation in 1972. We are still not aware if it will be colour T.V. or not. My guess is that it will be. When we do find out I will drop you a line then everyone can start to save for that $1,000 colour T.V. t
