Tickets this year are $20 for families, $15 for singles. tt + £ ££ The annual meeting of the Atlin Riding Liberal Association took place in Lower Post on June 7th. At this meeting, Basil Studer, 20 year resident of the north was chosen to represent the Liberal Party in the Atlin Riding in the next Provincial election. Mr. Studer held a Liberal organizational meeting in Cassiar on June 9th. a The Cassiar Soccer team travelled to Whitehorse on the July 1st long weekend to participate in a tournament in that city. We didn't come back with the championship this year, but a wholehearted effort was made by the players and we congratulate them. Fe FEE The weather for the past several weeks has been exceptionally warm for Cassiar. We dug up some records and found that these past weeks have set a record since 1960. The official high is 85 and low is 31. Rain to date is only 2.09. +. Fe A The Forest Fire Hazard in the area is still explosive. For several days a smoky haze has hung about Cassiar, though no fires burn near by. We have been lucky enough so far this summer to have to spare only 8 men for fire fighting duty. Let us keep it this way for the next couple of months. Caron. 40 ladies enjoyed a light lunch and Mrs. Beguin was presented with a gold nugget teaspoon and a framed “Flowers of the North”, picture to hang in her new home in Toronto in memory of many years in the Yukon and Northern B.C.
