V2N 4Z9 Total Coolness: Total Annihilation Minimum System Requirements: Pentium 100Mhz, 16MB RAM, 2x CD-ROM, Sound Card, 60MB HD Space Recommended: Pentium 166Mhz, 32+MB RAM The genre of computer games known as Real Time Strategy has recently been graced with such perfection that it is hard to grasp how much further they could take it without actually throwing someone into the battlefield and saying, “Deal with it.” This divinely granted gift is none other than Total Annihilation. It breaks Cavedog Entertainment into the RTS market, and takes the entire gaming category to new heights. Introduced for the first time is 3D Terrain, on-the-fly 3D ren- prince george’s busiest nightspot dering of all ante and con- tinued weekly new unit releases directly from the company, which makes this the most supported and most dynamic game yet cre- ated. Most RTS games previous- ly available, including Westwood’s Command and Conquer Red Alert and Interplay’s Dark Reign have used the Dune 2 type- engine which uses Sprites (static graphics which update as the unit turns, explodes etc.) Not TA. If a tank is going down ~ a slope, you see the tank tilt, if its hit by a rocket, it rocks. 3D Terrain, which allows you to build in. safety behind hills and under cliffs, is well com- plimented by unbelievable graphics. The game sports support for resolution up to 1280x1024 and up to ten players in multi-player, though the recommended limit over the Internet is four. Over one-hundred units and buildings are available now, and a new one is released free of charge each week on the Internet, as well as maps for multi-player and _ skir- mishes with the computer. This game and its versatility win an undeniable two thumbs up from me. -By Kevin Lavoie 7th and quebec at simon fraser inn hi-ball hell cheap drinks resident> j-sun (van) breaks, progressive house, alternative - New sound system > bigger Lightshow > bigger dance. floor $3 cover infoline> 562-3161
