SAFETY AWARDS MADE AT SPECIAL PRESENTATION DINNER TO CASSIAR WINNERS "On behalf of the Directors, the Chair- man and the President of Cassiar Asbestos Corporation, I welcome you and hope all share in this expression of appreciation to the recipients of the awards presented here tonight." With these words, Mr. Andre C. Beguin, General Superintendent, opened the formal presentation of Safety Awards at the Presentation Dinner held Saturday, June 25, in the Community Centre at Cassiar. It was a gala evening with management and employees gathering under a canopy of glittering streamers and gaily colored lights for the presentation ceremonies, dinner and dancing. Rev. E. G. Foster said Grace, and Mr. George Brewer gave the Toast to the Queen. Mr. Gordon Edwards was Master of Ceremonies Special guests were Mr. Kenneth B. Blakey, Gold Commissioner for B.C., repre—- senting the Hon. H. D. Brothers, Minister of Mines, who was unable to attend because of his previous commitment to the Under- ‘ground Mine Rescue Competition at Cranbrook and Mr. J. D. (Jake) McDonald, Safety Director for the Mining Association of British Columbia. Other guests at the head table, as presented by Mr. Beguin were: Mr. George Prewer, Tramline Foreman; Mrs. F. P. Hodgson, wife of the Gen. Supt. at Clinton; Mr. Frank Kliment, Asst. Electrical Supt.; Mrs. Danny Demitri; Mr. Paul Ripco, Mill Shift Boss; Mrs. Al Flanagan; Mr. Stan Kuchcinski, Mill Shift Boss; Mrs. George Brewer; Mr. Al Flanagan, Safety Supervisor; Mrs. S. Kuchcinski; Mr. Danny Demitri, Mine Shift Boss; and Mrs. A. C. Beguin. HIGHEST MARKS IN FIRST AID COURSE GIVEN RECOGNITION | Mr. Al Flanagan, Safety Supervisor, led the presentations with awards to the persons receiving the highest marks in the recent First Aid Course. These were divided into a senior division for those who had taken two or more courses, and a junior for those who had taken the course for the first time.
