The Bulkley Valley Another Rich Tract of Farming and Stock-Raising. Country Near to Fort Fraser “The Road to Independence,” Bulkiey Walley, British Columbia. HE BULKLEY VALLEY IS BEYOND ANY QUESTION WHATEVER See aiiy ADAPTED FOR MIXED FARMING, especially includ- ing dairying and stock-raising. The Grand Trunk Pacific Railway has just been opened amid scenes of great local enthusiasm on its first 110-mile stretch to the eastward of its Pacific Coast terminus—Prince Rupert; and as far up the Skeena Valley as Copper River. And when the tunnel through Kitselas Canyon is finished—and it is a matter of about half a mile in length —the greatest existing obsta¢le to the making of rapid progress with the im- portant work of pushing forward the construction of this transcontinental highway up the Valley of the Skeena River towards Hazelton and the Bulkley Valley will have been most effectually removed. This tunnel is situated some 10 or 15 miles up the Skeena from Copper River. The contractors confidently expect to complete the road as far as and into Hazelton this fall; and the work of clearing out the right-of-way in the Bulkley Valley is already in prog- ress. The Bulkley Valley should be able sometime during the coming year to rejoice in the presence of construction gangs and camps actively engaged upon the road-bed, and this will undoubtedly coincide with a distinct and serious advance in the values of all the desirable properties to be found in this valley.
