SAFETY NOTES

Recently this Company became a member of

| the British Columbia Safety Council. /
This organization takes in all industrial
and other safety groups and issues awards
for safe performance on the basis of low,
medium and high accident rating groups.

As we belong to the mining group we are
classified in the high risk group.
Bronze, silver and gold certificates are
} awarded and members become eligible when
the required number of man hours for
each class have been completed without a
lost time accident.

Now, as you enter the Tine Office, please
look at the bulletin board to the left of
the wicket, There will be seen the

| BRONZE certificate. And in the Surface

| Department there is on display a gold on
goid certificate, which ie the highest

| award attainable through the Safety
Council.

Take a good look at these certificates.
Your efforts, interest and co-operation
have now been recognized - Province wide.
| Your further efforts to prevent accidents
will spare someone, perhaps edie
pain, suffering and financial loss, and

also meet further recognition.

| In closing, and with a long holiday week-
end in prospect, everyone is reminded
that, if a camping or hiking party is
} planned they should :

l. Advise their Department Head and the
| camp steward of their intended
destination and expected time of
return.
Obtain a fire permit from the R.C.M.P.

Be equipped with First Aid supplies
as well as adequate food and equip-
ment for an emergency delay.

Think of what might happen and plan
to meet the situation. For example,
if you became lost in the bush, what
would you do ?

Do not go alone, Start with at least
one companion, who can go for assis-
tance if necessary.
