JACK HARLEY is now a high school teacher in St. Catharines, Ontario. He says some of his fond- est memories are of Cassiar, where he worked in the Sheetmetal Shop and the Mine Garage. FRED AND WENDY ZABOT expanded their store at Desmarais, Alberta, the past summer. " . . ' . > ; They also acquired a TV Dish and Fred's new nickname now is “Flicker Fred ” Georgia and Stephen Sevier PAUL, KATE, GEORGIA & STEPHEN SEVIER live on their 60 acre ranch with 40 sheep and 7 lambs, so far. Don't know when Paul has time for his medical practice now! They miss things such as the lovely Cassiar white Christmas and wild blue-berry muffins — Kate says she's going to have to grow them there! DAPHNE & LAURENCE GEREAU have just completed their first year of retirement. They have moved to Kelowna and are busy landscaping, camping and golfing. This year JACK TIORNICROFT did more tray- elling, he took a trip down the East Coast to the Florida Keys and back up the Gulf Coast, another to James Bay, part of it on the Polar Bear Express and finally a trip to Cape Cod and Boston. Joyce again stayed home in Bobcaygeon. In between Jack?s travels they enjoyed a visit from CATHIE & CHARLIE GANDER, who are now living in Kelowna. JULIEN ST GEORGES in Joliette, Quebec, spent some time in the hospital the past vear but is now feeling better. BRENDA ERNEWEIN & AL BURROWS are now living in Port Alberni, B.C. with all their dogs and cats. KAREN, FRANK, HURT & MELANIE HAWK- ER have settled in New Zealand. Frank is busy Setting up his jewellery shop and Karen is so ex- cited that she can finally grow some vegetables! PETER CARTWRIGHT is busy cleaning his land on Vancouver Island, where he and Betty plan to build a house. DICK, SUE, JEREMY & ANDREW CHAMBERS are now beginning to think of Nakusp, B.C. as home although Sue says it will never replace Cas- star! The whole family is as active as ever in sports and Sue is also on the Hospital Board there. WY & JOE ELLIS are living in Saskatoon. Altho ’ retirement is a few years away, ona trip home to England this past summer they bought a home (across from the golf course) in the town where Ivy was born, LEO & LIZ DURI have moved to Smithers, where Leo works for Hoskins Garage. Winnipeg is the new home for MARIAN & DAVE COOK, where Dave works for the Department of Mines. Gordon was married last May and Ken will be graduating from the R.C.M.P. in May 1986. FRANK CSEREY is living in Austria but says “there’s no place like Canada” We certainly en- joy getting his entertaining letters telling us about the way of life there. AL & MARGARET WAGNER have moved to Edmonton from Saskatoon and are living with son John and family. FRED & VIVIAN COUSINS are still at Bissett, Man. Can?} give you any other news — she must have a broken arm or something — because she didn’t write anything in her card! How about a letter, Vivian? TIM & BARBARA RIORDAN are living in Elsa, Yukon, where Tim is mine manager for United Keno Hill Mines. AVRIL & TOM CADWALADER and family are in Port Hardy. Avril works at the hospital there. ELIZABETH & FRANK EGYED are still in Kam- loops. Elizabeth's brother, Dave Troughton, was married in Kamloops on January 4, 1986. DR. & CAROL GASPARELLI are living in Wawa, Ontario and now have three children — finally a son for Rudy! GLENN WHITTINGTON is teaching at Langley Secondary School and coaching the basketball team. JILL DOWGRAY is living in Edmonton and works for a soil consultation company. CARLENE AND OTTO KLIMENT live in Dun- can, Otto works in Port Hardy and Carlene man- ages @ marina-resatirant in the Duncan area. DANNY DEMITRI lives in Soleto, Italy and is still waiting for the influx of visitors from Canada. BRENDA ROOSDAHL AND NEIL MCGOWAN are farming at St. Walburg, Saskatchewan. They passed through Cassiar a short time ago on their wav to visit NOREEN MCGOWAN, who is working for the government in Whitehorse. BOB & DELORES STEWART are now living in Sparwood. Delores is working in the bank there — Royal, of course. Every Christmas BENITO GUIDO phones from Edmonton to let us know he still thinks often of Cassiar. LAURIE & JOE FITZSIMMONS are still at Logan Lake. We really enjoy Laurie’s newsy letters, filling us in about many ex-Cassiarites. Keep them coming, Laurie. TERRY & GWEN FARRELL and family are living in Calgary. Both work in the restaurant business. DR, & CAROL NIEDERMEYER live at Cran- brook and are busy raising a couple of budding hockey players. EARL & HILDE VOSS are settled at Parksville, B.C. and really enjoy all their visitors. KATHERINE GECK left on December 4 for Rhiad in Saudi Arabia, as part of an intravenous team. She will be there for at least a year. VONNIE ‘STEFANISHIN quit her job in Fort Vermilion and is spending the next six months travelling through the United States. BILLIE & JEANIE ELSNER are in Telkwa, B.C. where Billie works as a millwright and Jeanie Keeps the homestead fires burning. Both JOHN & TONY WONG are attending Yuk- on College in Whitehorse at present. John plans to go to university in Pittsburgh in the fall. CARL LEFEBV RE is spending his time between Simon Fraser University and Kimberley. In 1985 RCMP. personnel in Cassiar were on the move. BOB, CAROL, STEPHANIE AND TER— ENA BOWEN were transferred to 100 Mile House, JEFF HUM went to Grand Forks, B.C. and WAYNE & DEBBIE CONLEY and family moved to Creston, B.C. EVE & ED THIRWELL are at 100 Mile House. Eve has been ill during the past year but has im- proved again. SUSAN THIRWELL is working in Whitehorse for the government. LEE & KEITH PATTON are at 100 Mile House — raising chickens, geese, rabbits and ducks, and gardening, now that the house renovations are finished. DON.& BOBBIE HUDGEON now own and oper- ate Summerland Esso Service, Summerland, B.C. ANNE CONNOLLY has moved to Ashcroft to join her daughter, Mary, who is a nurse at the Ashcroft Hospital. They recently bought a house there. ROSS DOODY and his two daughters live in Kemptville, Ontario and Ross works in Ottawa. GEORGE & DOREEN SIMMONS are now living in Prince George. Their four children are all away working. AL & VICKIE CAPPIS live in Lacombe, Alberta, with their two children, Maria and Thomas. LEN & JAN WERNER are now living in Slocan, B.C. Jan realizes how long it is since they left when she heard her grade 2 student, Laurie Kam- lah, was married recently. MURIEL & BOB YORKE are fiving in Prince George. Bob has a logging business in the Bell Irv- ing area and now has a tree farm license in the Nass Valley. IAN AND EILEEN CAUSER now live in Felix- stone, Suffolk, England. Eileen continues teach- ing piano. FRANK & HEDWIG KLIMENT are happily set- tled into their new home west of Williams Lake. Both work in Williams Lake. JAINE SMIT lives in Merritt, B.C. and had a son, Christopher Jerrod, on December 1, 1985. DOREEN & LES TEV ELY left ona long sailboat © cruise last year but when they got as far as San Franscisco they ran into some very rough storms so they sailed back to their home in Parksville. DEBBIE & ANDREW FOLEY are in Deep River, Ontario and doing well, They had an addition to their family in 1985. DAPHNE & WAYNE CANNING are in Newfound- land. They have bought a house and are really enjoying being back in Newfoundland. CHUCK & LAURA GANDER are at Logan Lake and we understand Joanne Habjan’s little niece Kaitlin is doing just great! IRENE & JIM MCCLELLAND are living in Newry, Ireland. Last February Irene was injured in a mortar attack on the police station where she works but has recovered. CINDY & STERLING STUMP are living in Tumbler Ridge where Cindy will soon be opening a hairdressing salon. Some other ex-Cassiarites in Tumbler Ridge are JUDY & AL PRICE, MIKE & MARIE ZEMENCHIK, TOM & PATSY FAR— RELL and BLAINE & JUNE SMALLWOOD. FIONA & TIM CAREW moved to North Vancouy- er in October where Tim is working for a con- sulting firm and Fiona and the children are busy getting settled into the Vancouver routine. JILL & BARRY WHITE and family are planning to spend a further two years in Zimbabwe. Barry was in Vancouver before Christmas to arrange for contract extensions. He sent greetings to all Cassiarites and wishes to let everyone know that his swimming pool is only empty for approxim- ately a month each year — visitors welcome. GARFIELD AND THELMA WILLIAMS are living in Mississauga, Ontario. They were in Jamaica for a visit this summer and now Garfield is taking therapy for his hands. He has regained strength in his right hand but cannot close it. JUDY & BOB FITZSIMMONS and the boys are still living in Salmon Arm, although they antic- ipate they may be moving in the near future.
