CURTAIN FALLS ON HOCKEY SENIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE An end-of-season party was held on Friday, April 11th to honour all the senior hockey players of Cassiar. Hockey committee mem- bers, officials, wives and friends also attended this function which was a great success. During the evening the presentation of a liquor cabinet was made to one of Cassiar’s outstanding players, Const. Dave Jackson, who will be leaving this town for another post on June 1st. This farewell gift was presented to Dave by his team-mates and fellow players and friends as a tribute to his support and contribution to the hockey cause in Cassiar since his coming here in 1967. The senior hockey season this year, although a short one, was none-the-less one of the best and most exciting. Ten games were played in Our areana, six against visiting teams from Whitehorse and Watson Lake and four between Cassiar teams, the Wolves and the Rattrays. Two more games were played on the road by the Asbestos Kings. At the end of the season with the Grant Stewart Trophy at stake, the Wolves came out on top in a best of three series against the Rattrays with two wins and one loss. As for the Asbestos Kings, in an eight week schedule, they managed to win four of their eight games, tying one and losing three. The Whitehorse club won two games and shared one, while the Watson Lake All Stars got the best over the Kings only once in three games. Now, | would like to take this opportunity to thank all the players, the hockey com- mittee members and officials, the company officers and the numerous fans and supporters, each and every one who made this year fine achievement possible. ‘till next season!
